I've started this blog because I want a place to read about lesbian news, issues, and gossip, and I'm tired of AfterEllen.com. I'm tired of AfterEllen for a few reasons, the first of which being that I tried more than once to open an account with them so that I could add my posts alongside those posted by the baby dykes, but I was denied, rejected, disconfirmed, and overall ignored in my attempts. I have no explanation. The second reason I'm tired of AfterEllen is that I do not know half the celebrities featured on the site. They are on shows I've never heard of aired on networks I don't watch. (CW?) I fear I may be becoming a grump, but, still, I just can't keep track of all these lovely straight young women who I'm supposed to find appealing simply because they're young and lovely and bi-curious. Not that there's anything wrong with that. But I can't help but think AfterEllen has become some bizarre outlying promotional division of the Hollywood machine. And I will have none of it.
On this blog we can expect to find the following: Unconfirmed gossip about lesbians that I read on other blogs or in The National Enquirer, socio-political yammering with lofty ambitions, tributes to underappreciated women, random observations, thoughts on Orwell, the mass media, propaganda, art museums, and, of course, one of civilization's greatest creations: museum cafés.
