Not interested in this

I'd been hearing a lot about the UK original and US version of a television show called "Skins." But when AfterEllen and other lesbian sites went on breathlessly recapping episodes and celebrating the young lesbian characters, I simply had no interest. I've not seen the show, but from what I can gather, it's about high school kids having sex and doing drugs. Why would a mature adult with correspondingly grown-up interests want to watch that? I don't consider myself a prude, but I also can't imagine why anyone other than a hormone-crazed teenager with bad judgement would tune in. So I was not entirely surprised to read in The New York Times this week that MTV, which is airing the American version of "Skins," has developed some concerns about whether their explicitly sexualized images of minors might break US law. You think? Meanwhile, I'll be watching "Downton Abbey."
