You might enjoy the hypnotic music of
Holly Miranda, who just finished touring with
Tegan and Sara. She's an out lesbian who doesn't make a big deal of it (though I am equally fond of out lesbians who do indeed make a big deal of it.) She's adorable and arty. Her music is lush and pensive. I'm thinking it's something best enjoyed in a club, late, after a few drinks,

sweating alongside strangers. And, frankly, I haven't done that in years. Perhaps not since I was Holly Miranda's age. (I think she's 27.) Nonetheless,
check out her excellent acoustic cover of Lauryn Hill's "Ex Factor." I believe that is Chris Martin singing timid backup.
Holly, it seems, is a charming little tomboy. According to The New York Times, which ran a
profile of her back in February, she prefers lug soles to stilettos.

The writer described a photo shoot in which Holly was all dolled up in a Marc Jacobs dress. "But instead of heels," the article continued, "she wore her trusty pair of heavy, worn work boots, and once the shoot ended she quickly changed back into jeans and a Billy Idol T-shirt." Sounds like someone we might know.
She's an intriguing artist who ran away from home—a strict Pentecostal family—at 16 to pursue her music.
Enjoy my favorite new ragamuffin.
