Gol, emozioni ed errori nel posticipo tra Timbers e Red Bulls

Emozionante posticipo per la Week # 14 della MLS, al Jeld-Wen Field tutti prima ad assistere alla vittoria degli Usa sulla Giamaica, e poi in campo Portland Timbers e Red Bulls New York.

Il primo tempo si apre subito con una grandissima azione della formazione di Hans Backe: imposta a metà campo il giovane Austin Da Luz, verticalizzazione per Henry che apre a sinistra per De Rosario, questo punta l'area e serve in mezzo, velo dell'attaccante francese per il centrocampista selezionato al SuperDraft 2010 che non concede scampo a Perkins (5').

Il primo tempo scorre veloce senza particolari sussulti, anche se nel finale della frazione uno scontro aereo tra Sutton e Horst tiene in ansia il pubblico sugli spalti con il difensore sostituito all'intervallo con l'ex Goldthwaite.

Dopo una timida reazione nel primo tempo, i Timbers prendono il sopravvento in avvio di ripresa anche perchè nel giro di pochi minuti piazzano l'uno-due del sorpasso prima con un tiro dal limite su palla vagante di capitan Jewsbury, e poco dopo proprio con il neo entrato Goldthwaite che si permette il lusso di una deviazione di tacco sottomisura per il vantaggio della formazione dell'Oregon.

L'undici di John Spencer (ieri in tribuna squalificato e sostituito dal vice Trevor James) sembra dirompente e mette alla frusta la difesa dei newyorkesi che rischiano di capitolare a più riprese (tra cui anche un salvataggio sulla linea di Tainio), ed alla fine incassano il tris a poco più di venti minuti dalla fine quando Perlaza rimette dal fondo un assist per Cooper, sciagurato il tentativo di rinvio del riccioluto ex Keel che devia nella porta incustodita.

I Red Bulls hanno un sussulto di orgoglio e riducono le distanze con Henry che duetta con Da Luz e con un secco diagonale firma il suo ottavo gol stagionale agguantando in testa alla classifica marcatori Donovan.

Nel tentativo di riequilibrare la sfida gli ospiti concedono il fianco ai contropiedi dei padroni di casa che hanno la chance di chiudere la pratica quando Perlaza sfugge sul filo del fuorigioco ed è atterrato dal portiere Sutton: rigore che s’incarica di trasformare Jewsbury, tiro secco, basso, alla sinistra dell’estremo difensore canadese che si stampa sulla base del palo.

Un errore che pesa perché al 95’, con i Red Bulls in dieci per un rosso ad Henry, il difensore Rodney Wallace è sanzionato per un fallo di mano, dal dischetto Dwayne De Rosario non sbaglia ed il match si chiude con un pirotecnico 3-3 che comunque ha divertito il pubblico presente che applaude.

Primo hurrà per lo Sporting al Livestrong

Buona la seconda! Lo Sporting Kansas City alla seconda gara disputata nel "Livestrong Stadium", il suo nuovo impianto di gioco, regala un importante successo ai tifosi e proietta la formazione di Peter Vermes verso un prossimo aggancio alle formazioni della coda dell'Eastern Conference (dovendo recuperare alcune gare rispetto alle rivali).

Quel che appare certo è che lo Sporting dall'inaugurazione del nuovo impianto sembra essersi scrollato di dosso molte delle titubanze che ne avevano caratterizzato il torneo finora dopo che all'esordio stagionale era stato capace di superare in trasferta i Chivas Usa.

A decidere il secondo anticipo della Week #14 è stata una deviazione al volo del rookie C.J. Sapong, attaccante al secondo gol stagionale, su una punizione tagliata dall'out destro di Graham Zusi.

Quest'ultimo sembra aver finalmente trovato consapevolezza nei suoi mezzi confermando quanto di buono su di lui si dicesse ai tempi del college, e che ora dopo una stagione vissuta dietro le quinte riesce a mostrare in campo, sebbene in avvio di gara fallisca una ghiotta occasione a tu per tu con Jon Busch.

Il successo se è vero che sia un tonico per lo Sporting, non deve però ingannare perchè specie nella ripresa l'iniziativa è stata in modo schiacciante dei San Josè Earthquakes che hanno chiamato spesso all'intervento il portiere danese Jimmy Nielsen, e colpito un palo con il centrocampista inglese Simon Dawkins.

Una menzione la merita il difensore francese Aurelien Collin autore di un bel duello con il centravanti californiano Steven Lenhart.

Revs e Reds pari senza reti ed emozioni

Pari senza reti, e con ben poche emozioni nella sfida dell'East Coast tra New England Revolution e Toronto FC nel primo anticipo della Week #14 del torneo 2011 della Major League Soccer.

Triste lo scenario di un impianto di Foxboro desolatamente vuoto con un match senza grandi aspettative che ha dato ragione agli assenti. Il punto infonde fiducia e regala continuità ad entrambe, ma la politica dei "piccoli passi" dell'undici canadese di Aron Winter giunto all'ottavo pareggio stagionale sembra lascia precludere ad una stagione di transizione. I "reds" chiudono in dieci per la doppia ammonizione del neo-entrato Gianluca Zavarise.
